It all started when…

Silently 15 years ago, I started helping pay school fees for needy children, majority of whom have cleared university. Some are still in university, or about to join university, others are in high school, others are in primary school, while my newest set of students just joined boarding school this week. It hasn't been easy and has taken great financial sacrifice; but through it all, God's grace has been sufficient!

Today, I'm officially announcing our transitioning from behind-the-scenes to a public academic foundation and opening this great door of blessing to my fellow Brethren who want to academically adopt a child under my care. Majority of these children are orphans, fatherless, motherless, or from very financially struggling parents. Most of these children live on the camp with me and 3 caretakers. My home is their home away from home.

THEIR STORIES…….

VINCENT

He lost both parents when he was a toddler. Was educated by a brother and step-brother. On the last semester of high school, his older brother requested my presence in Vincent's school for Prayer Day which was before the countrywide National Examinations. I sowed my vehicle for transportation and took his grandmother, brother and other family members to pray for their son. I spoke the Word and assured him that he will pass and go to university; and offered him a job after he was done with his national exams. He came and faithfully worked in my cafeteria. When the results came out, he had a B+. When he found out  he had passed highly, he asked me if he could live at my Camp since he didn't want to live in their village because he knew if he did, he would not continue his education. He understood about the powers of the village that he had heard me teach about. He moved in to the Camp in December and just joined University. He is the first in his family to get an education past high school. He is the game-changer in their lineage.

EZRA

He was brought to me by his cousin, our Camp Manager, as a worker in 2019. He worked and served diligently until 2021 when he requested to go visit his parents. He never came back because powers of the village arrested him. After few months, he called me crying in hospital asking me to pray for him because he was dying. I cast out the spirit of death and decreed unto him that he will not die but live to declare the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. I sent a driver to pick him from where he was hospitalized 6 hours away, and brought him to a hospital closer to the Camp. He was treated and billed to the camp. He recovered fully and started working at the camp again. Last year he transitioned to work at the Cafe and while working there, he asked a Doctor who was our regular customer to speak to me regarding taking him to school. I said yes and in January he started school at a boarding school in Kericho. Even after being out of school for 5 years, he was the top student in 4 streams last term. He is one of my favorite sons.

MARYANN

She was introduced to me by her parents who I had helped start a market stall to sell chips. She was very intelligent and watched her small brother with care. Her father is my camp mason who has beautified every one of my buildings; my cottage, worker's and student's bunkhouse, shop, outside public shower and toilet, outside kitchen verandah, KenTex RoadHouse verandah and Mololine Parcel office. During the political heat last year, because they belong to the opposing tribe, their neighbors started harassing them to leave for their tribal land, so I moved them to my Camp for their security. As a family I noticed they wanted the best education for their daughter so I took her under my wing and now she is doing her second year in a boarding private school. She was a hard-headed child but after only 2 terms in boarding school, the girl is so amazingly streamlined. The parents are in awe. The love of Christ knows no boundaries nor tribal lines, so I bring in children according to their needs and treat them all as one.

BRYAN

One day in December of 2019, a young boy came to the camp and asked to see me. He said he wanted any kind of menial work so he could buy uniform and books for the following term, now that schools were closed. He was little in stature and I really felt sorry for him. I asked him what work he could do and he said any, even burning charcoal coz I have lots of trees on my land. I hate to cut trees so I wasn't going to have him burn charcoal. So I told him the only work I had was removing stones from my garden and putting them along the fence. He agreed and I told him to find another young boy to help him. They did the work in 2 days and after I paid them, I didn't know what other work to give him, so I told him if I had more work I would call him back. In January of 2020, I noticed he would come by to the camp around 7pm and sit with my Camp Manager and do his homework coz I have electricity and he didn't have light in his home. He was a Grade 8 candidate at that time. I felt in my heart to ask him to speak to his Mum to see if she would allow him to live at the camp so he can excel in his studies. She allowed him and since then, he is one of our best Camp sons. He passed very well and since his mother was unable to pay his school fees, I took him under my wing. He is now in Form 2, doing excellently in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics - I call him Dr. Bryan!

KEVIN

Last year, Bryan (mentioned above) went for Christian Circumcision. When the day came for him to return home, we had a big celebration at his Mum's home.

Then I noticed a young boy about 11 years old accompanying Bryan and his team mates. I noticed this young boy was keen with the PA system and looked very curious to learn. After the celebration, Bryan  and his team mates came and stayed at the camp for a week. Kevin came along too. About the 7th day as Bryan's team mates were leaving, I asked Kevin why he doesn't go to school (I had inquired from few people who he was and I was told he just loitered around and went everywhere there is a function so he could eat and find a place to sleep). He told me that if he found someone that can take him to school, he would be so happy. So I told him I would take him to school and my Camp Manager enrolled him in Grade 3 in a private day school. Whenever he would come home from school, he would wash his uniform and come to my cottage with his books and a pencil, saying he needs me or Naomy to show him how to do homework. Come to find out, the young boy didn't know how to write his name, let alone read or write. We started by teaching him to write his name, the numbers 1 to 10 and the vowels. He was so hard-headed and angry all the time. He always called people dogs. Today he is so changed, disciplined and amazingly transformed and was among our new boarders this term. He can now write his full name and reads and writes on his own. He now smiles all the time.

MEMO

She was introduced to me by her grandmother. Her mother left her with her father when she was a toddler so she was raised by her grand mother, father and step mother.

After she completed her Grade 8 national exams, she passed very well but neither her father, a watchman in Kericho, nor her grandmother, a charcoal burner could afford to take her to high school. Her grandmother, a member of our church, spoke to me about her and I told her because she has brought her concern to me too late, I would have to take her to a day school in Sotik and ask my Sister-in-law, May Langat, if she would be willing to house her. My Sister-in-law agreed to house and feed her, while I pay school fees and buy her uniforms and school supplies. She did so well last term and is back to school for a second term. Hopefully next year she will go to boarding so she can be excellently streamlined academically and behaviorally.

ADOPT-A-STUDENT

However and whomever the Lord leads you to support their education, we speak a blessing over your life.

All the male students mentioned above live in my camp where we provide the daily needs, food and accomodation. We still do not house the girls because we do not have living quarters for female students. We are believing God that we will start building the female quarters after we complete the finishings of the male quarters. Slowly by slowl, one step at a time, I have faith we will make it.

So, would you like to adopt a student? If no, just say a prayer of provision for them. If yes, choose one of the following.

Here's how:-

1) you can help pay one student's fees for one term/semester or the entire year. Choose a name and message or WhatsApp me on 0718 54 54 54 for more information on their school and where to pay the fees.

2) you can help buy their school supplies by paying directly to the bookshop

3) you can buy their groceries by contacting me directly regarding their monthly food budget.

To ADOPT-A-STUDENT, you can send your donation to our ministry line 0718 54 54 54 by MPesa or Chime (International - include Kenya country code +254 718 54 54 54) and forward the message to 0796 20 20 76 or International +254 796 20 20 76.

All donations will be faithfully and transparently accounted for and you will receive a receipt from the school or bookshop or supermarket showing your donation and specific itemized description of what you have purchased. Also, you will receive a "THANK YOU" card and a "PRAYER" declaration from the student whom you choose to adopt.

JOIN US @ FLO'S FOUNDATION FOR NEEDY STUDENTS! Together we can help many students get an education. There are so many of them in need and always heartbreaking to send them away when funds are not sufficient. Jesus said in Matthew 25:35-46 ESV;

“ 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,

36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’

37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?

38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?

39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[f] you did it to me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’

44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’

45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’

46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Lost his parents when he was a toddler and just this month joined university, even though the powers of the village tried to take him out. He is more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus and no weapon fashioned against him shall prosper according to Isaiah 54:17, in Jesus Name!!!
